ABOUT THE
ROCKY MOUNTAIN HEMP PROJECT
MISSION & HISTORY.
The Rocky Mountain Hemp Project is a non-profit organization and was founded in January of 2022 after the devastating Marshall and Middle Fork Fires horrifically burned over 6,000 acres in a matter of hours and destroyed over 1,000 homes.
Though Colorado governor Jared S. Polis has enacted environmental laws, this has not been enough to help the state of Colorado recover or prevent further climate catastrophes. The United States has sustained over 258 weather and climate disasters where the overall damage costs reached or exceeded $1 billion every year since 1980. Colorado itself is reversing its ecological efforts; Recycling rates continue to lag far behind the national recycling rate of 35% and behind our goal to reach 28% diversion by 2021. Energy and waste plants violate EPA laws with Denver Suncor alone stacking up to $3,391,800 since the year 2000.
Colorado has also failed to implement a reliable plan to cut fossil fuels and emissions by 2025.
Our goal is to bring change to the world and fight climate change by focusing on some of our largest greenhouse contributors - plastic and paper waste, and committed on bringing Colorado closer to its goal for our state to reduce emissions by 26 percent by 2025.
